Seva* Health policy & advocacy for BVHP Recommendations drafted, review invited Why are Yvette Robles, Ed Donaldson, Debra Keller, Espanola Jackson, and Randy Quezada smiling? They just got an advance draft of a set of healthcare policy recommendations that emerged from a community-based, participatory partnership between residents and leaders in BVHP, SF General Hospital doctors and other experts at University of California. They are part of the "Accountability Council," which has taken on a community review of the draft so that the final document speaks the truth and advances our community toward wellness in practical ways. Sunday Streets, eco-everything, and Russian visitors  Reports about last Sunday's pile-up of BVHP events have been coming in to Footprints this week. Sunday Streets brought street closures deeper into the heart of Bayview, but few participants in the Southland. Those who walked or wheeled near the Quesada Gardens were having a lovely time under blue Bayview skies. The next Sunday Streets closure of 3rd Street is scheduled for May 23th. Only a handful of bike riders, roller skaters and pedestrians covered the street, getting exercise and enjoying the calm atmosphere. Alex Estrada, Citizen Report Sunday Streets returned to the Bayview and the Central Waterfront for a third straight year yesterday, welcomed by a resplendent, sunny day and thousands of participants on bike, foot and skate. Michael Rhodes The official opening of the EcoCenter at Heron’s Head drew rave reviews from those who attended on Sunday, and others who were part of ritual ceremonies Saturday evening. Literacy for Environmental Justice has poured its collective heart into this project designed to educate us all about environmental justice issues facing our community. Quesada Gardens neighbors hosted a busload of Stanford students and students from universities in Moscow who were in the area for a conference. Neighbors and students mixed it up at the Quesada Gardens' Founders Memorial hillside (pictured), the Bridgeview Community Garden, and the Latona Community Garden.  Overheard...
